About Me

Hi! I am Sierra Stallmann, originally from Upstate New York, I am now a theater artist based in NYC and Philadelphia. Growing up in a rural community, I certainly prioritized sports as the most important facet of my young adult life, between travel softball and competitive ice hockey, spending my weekends at tournaments in Canada. But in my early teens, I got real with myself and admitted that theatre was the thing that moved me the deepest and made me think the hardest. As a freshman in high school, my fellow percussionist in our high school band told me he was going to school for musical theater (I didn’t know such a career existed)! I am forever indebted to this friend who taught me I could pursue my passion beyond the spring musical. Shortly after this revelation, I began to pursue theater more intensely, beginning voice and dance lessons. I went on to earn my BFA in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts (may she rest in peace), with a minor in Arts Management and Engagement, and have worked regionally around the country in both plays and musicals.

Artist Statement

I am a multidisciplinary theater artist, striving to marry my acting and musical theater training with my love for writing, music, and movement to create film and performance based work that disrupts political ideology, informs personal thought, and influences the daily lives of audiences. I am a self proclaimed “knower of nothing,” but feeler of deep sensations and emotions. I dream to portray women who know more than I, who make sacrifices, grieve, work hard, and find a way to love in between; I want to learn from them. For me, it doesn’t take a lot of “knowing” to experience compassion; I carry my family's history, my upbringing, and life with me every time I step on stage. Through my body and voice, as a vessel for storytelling, I hope that audiences can leave the theatre/film asking more questions about life that push them to love harder than before and access a deeper sense of duty to living with compassion and humanity.
